In Athens, especially during night hours, the percentage exceeds 30%, while in rural areas it is much worse as there is minimal enforcement. At the same time, according to research by Hellas Direct, more than 50% of accidents occur at short distances, which often serve as the excuse for not wearing a helmet.(Research data: According to data from Hellas Direct, for 2023, most accidents, with a significant difference (39.84%), occurred very close to home, at a distance of only 2.5 km!Accidents also happen in the next 2.5 km (15.10%), so if we look at it cumulatively, over half of the collisions (55%) occur within a 5 km radius of our home.)"
