David Denneen is acknowledged as one of Australia’s top commercial directors and among the best in the world. He has worked with Dustin Hoffman, Richard Gere, Jackie Chan, Brian Cranston, William Shatner, Travis Fimmel, Teresa Palmer, Stephen Moyer, Michael J. Fox, Naomi Watts, Peter Falk, Leslie Nielsen, Sir Bob Geldof, Barry Humphries, and many sports personalities, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey Jr, Shane Warne, to name a few.
Denneen was an animator, co-director and co-designer on the Academy Award® winning short “Leisure”, produced by Filmgraphics Productions. In 2001, Denneen was among the inaugural recipients of the Australian Screen Directors Association (ASDA) accreditation alongside George Miller, Peter Weir, Gillian Armstrong, Bruce Beresford, Ray Lawrence, Phil Noyce and Fred Schepisi.
The accreditation for directors, acknowledges the creation of a body of work of a consistently high standard.
His peers voted Denneen as Director of the Decade for the 80’s and again for the 90’s.
Denneen owns Filmgraphics Productions, universally recognised as Australia’s foremost film production house. Over the years he has won every major award including a Gold Directing Award for Direction – Dialogue at the 2000 London International Advertising Award, a Gold Mobius in 2002 and two Gold Mobius Awards in 2003. In 2006 David Denneen directed his first feature film ‘Restraint’ – a psychological thriller.
In 2009 Denneen was the only filmmaker out of the eleven people inducted into the AWARD Hall of Fame.
