Over the past 17 years Michael's international creative agency leadership experience covers re-building, re-purposing, starting-up, acquiring and integrating agencies to deliver growth for both clients and the S&S / Publicis Groupe. He has helped advise clients, grow businesses and shape agency cultures across the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Currently he is the CEO of Publicis Communications Australia & New Zealand and the Saatchi & Saatchi Group across ANZ, which includes agencies in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington.
Previously, Michael was the Managing Director of Saatchi & Saatchi London, the spiritual HQ of the S&S network, and the first Australian to run the iconic London agency.
Under his leadership, Saatchi & Saatchi has grown from a 45 person operation to a world-class, financially growing and sustainable creative company of over 200 people in Sydney and now also in Melbourne.
As a result of creating a culture focused on innovation, during his leadership the agency is the only creative agency in the world to be awarded two prestigious Cannes Innovation Lions in consecutive years (2015 & 2016) for "Penny The Pirate: OPSM Children's eye test" and Toyota's "LandCruiser Emergency Network" mobile technology.
In 2015 they were also awarded a Cannes Effectiveness Lion and two agencies of the year titles; the NSW Creative Laureate and the Effies Effectiveness Agency of the Year.
In 2016, the WARC 100 recognised Saatchi & Saatchi Australia as creating the most effective idea and campaign in the world. Michael also successfully acquired 100% of Australia's leading digital Customer Experience agency, MercerBell, as part of his transformation strategy for Saatchi & Saatchi. He was also promoted to regional CEO of both Australia and New Zealand.
Michael sits on the worldwide network’s Global Leadership Team and the S&S Toyota Worldwide Executive Board.
