Ray was raised in a musical family. His older sister played the piano, his younger sister the oboe, his father the drums and his mother the radio. Ray followed in his father’s footsteps and was lucky enough to play at a number of venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and New York City’s longest running rock club, The Bitter End.
Upon receiving his undergraduate degree from University of Richmond, Ray began his advertising career in the presentation studio at BBDO NY. His responsibilities included mounting storyboards, setting up for presentations and breathing in an inordinate amount of spray mount.
After a second tour of Richmond, VA to attend the VCU Adcenter, Ray began his writing career in NYC. Over the years he has worked at a range of different shops, from DDB to Taxi NY.
Career highlights include shooting a commercial while jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet, having a 20-minute conversation with a turkey and being nominated for an Emmy.
If given the opportunity, Ray would eat his weight in finger foods.
