Richard has broad experience covering all areas of marketing communications, communications strategy and communications agency leadership.
Richard is currently at Ogilvy Public Relations Australia as Group Managing Director, Brand Marketing, based in Sydney. Heading up a team of over 50, Richard works across clients to develop strategy and creative campaigns for clients such as eBay, IKEA, Microsoft, Netflix, Ford and Westfield. The agency was shortlisted as Campaign's Agency of the Year 2014, CommsCon and Mumbrella's Agency of the Year 2015, and highly commended CommsCon Agency of the Year 2016. In 2016 Richard was also appointed as creative lead, Asia Pacific, driving creative innovation and leadership across the region.
Previously he was managing director of Shine Communications in London. During his tenure the agency secured 104 award wins or shortlists; including a shortlist for both PRCA and PR Week Agency of the Year 2012. Shine’s 50 staff voted the agency top ten in the Sunday Times Best Small Companies to Work For for the past four years, coming first in 2012.
Previously, Richard joined Samsonite in 2006 as global director of communications, and then was appointed VP, global marketing communications in 2007 where Richard was responsible for all communications strategy and implementation across all channels in all global markets including the global ‘Life’s A Journey’ celebrity advertising campaign, the launch of Samsonite Black Label by Alexander McQueen.
Before joining Samsonite Richard spent a decade at leading global communications agency Ketchum, leaving as London office strategy board director in 2006.
Richard has authored a number of papers on marketing communications including Brandometry (2015), Brand Economics (2013) and SmartPlanning (2012).
In 2010 Richard received a distinction for his MBA in Management from Imperial College London.
