Leanne Kumalo is a South African film producer, and current Managing Director of Seriti Films which she co-founded in 2017.
Her first feature film as producer was Bunny Chow (2005) official selection for Toronto Film Festival, which she produced while still completing her honours degree in filmmaking at the African School of Motion Picture (AFDA). She co-founded Emzantsi Entertainment, and went on to write and produce the short film Transactions (2008), as part of Multichoice’s talent incubation programme.
Kumalo completed her Post Graduate degree in Business Administration at GIBS (2009), were she finished cum laude with the highest achievement in marketing. Her passion for business and visual story telling led her into produce over 80 TV commercials in the last 9 years, having won several notable industry accolades such as….
Kumalo is currently on the executive committee for the Independent Productions Organistion. Here she works to contribute to the growing South African film community.
Leanne is a prolific Executive Producer having done several TV Drama Series, such as The Herd, The Imposter and Gomora. All of which are shows created and produced by Seriti Films. She also heads up the Seriti Commercials division as Executive Producer, representing four directors.
Currently in production for her second feature film Halo Daze, directed by Sibs Shongwe La-Mer, while developing the film Young Blood, based on the award winning novel, Kumalo continues to pursue her love for filmmaking as the recipient of the NFVF Slate fund.
