About me

Bas is a digital entrepreneur and a multiple award winner. In 1997, Bas co-founded MVLG Consulting, which later became part of Lost Boys LBi, a leading digital agency in Europe. In 2002 Bas Verhart co-founded Media Republic an Amsterdam-based new media company. As part of Media Republic, Guerrilla Games (www.guerrilla-games.com) was founded, one of Europe's leading game development studios. In December of 2005, Guerrilla Games was sold to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Media Republic was sold to Grey (WPP) in 2010. In 2010 Bas co-founded THNK, The School of Creative Leadership (www.thnk.org ). THNK is a global education and innovation institute supported by Stanford University, McKinsey & Company, Vodafone, AT&T, Cisco, UNStudio, and others. Bas recently founded DFFRNT Media, a Content Tech company.

The Innovation Platform aims to strengthen the innovation potential of the Netherlands in order to secure a leading role for this country in the European knowledge economy of 2010. To achieve this the Netherlands should re-establish/regain values such as excellence, ambition andentrepreneurship.The Innovation Platform consists of 17 members, originating from the business community (large and SME), knowledge institutions and the government (members of the cabinet) and is chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende.

The Dutch Postcode Lottery will provide €500,000 for the execution of the winning plan. The Jury includes Sir Richard Branson (Founder of Virgin), Avery Baker (EVP Global Marketing and Communications Tommy Hilfiger), Steve Howard (CEO The Climate Group), Peter ter Kulve (Senior Vice President Ice Cream Category Unilever), John Thackara (Director Doors of Perception) and Liesbeth van Tongeren (Executive Director Greenpeace Netherlands). All members are closely involved with green projects and/or accomplished players in the business world.
