Maku is a Spanish fashion photographer based in New York.
After her degree in Visual Communications and her MFA in Photography, Maku began several photography projects in cinema and quickly took an interest in the fashion field. She draws inspiration from fashion and conceptual photography with an emphasis on semiotics and symbolism that she uses to create graphic narratives. Maku’s fresh, colorful and intimate visual language give her work a unique energy, a sense of freedom and a dose of the unexpected.
For the last five years, Maku has been working on both sides of the Atlantic with clients such as Victoria Beckham, Givenchy, Melissa Shoes, Chus Burés and Grey Ant. She has shot editorials for magazines like Marie Claire México, Marie Claire Spain, L’Officiel Austria, L’Officiel Arabia or Stylist France.
Maku has also been a teacher of Fashion Photography in the Fashion Design College at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and in Veritas University of San José, Costa Rica for the last seven years.
